June is Employee Wellness Month, a reminder that caring for ourselves matters too.
At Social Model Recovery Systems, many staff members spend their days supporting others through recovery, treatment, outreach, prevention, and community care. The work can be meaningful, but it can also be emotionally and physically demanding.
Taking a real lunch break, stepping outside for some fresh air, checking in with a coworker, asking for support, or giving yourself time to rest and recharge are simple ways to stay healthy. Small moments of care can make a difference and are not about big lifestyle changes.
Employee Wellness Month is a reminder that we are not meant to carry everything on our own. In this field, many people spend so much time caring for others that they forget to slow down and care for themselves, too. A little support, understanding, kindness, or even a simple check-in can make a bigger difference than we realize.
At SMRS, employees continue to show compassion, patience, and dedication every day. Employee Wellness Month is a chance to pause and recognize the importance of balance, mental health, connection, and self-care, not just this month, but throughout the year.
When staff feel supported and cared for, it strengthens the work we do together and helps create healthier teams, stronger connections, and better care for the communities we serve.
