Jose Mota-Venegas is passionate about connecting public health strategy with meaningful community action.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Health from California State University, Los Angeles in 2020 and his Master of Public Health from California Baptist University in 2024. Committed to evidence-based practice and whole-person community care, Jose is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), is certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid, and is currently completing his Peer Support Specialist certification.

Jose began his public health career in 2022 as a Prevention Specialist with NCADD ESGPV, where his passion for improving community health quickly stood out. In recognition of his leadership, dedication, and strategic approach, he was promoted to Prevention Coordinator for NCADD’s Prevention Education Program in 2023. In this role, he leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of data-driven prevention initiatives designed to reduce substance misuse, support youth, and address broader community health challenges.

At the heart of Jose’s work is a genuine commitment to creating lasting, positive change. He sees public health as more than a profession—it is an opportunity to advocate for underserved communities, amplify the voices of vulnerable populations, and help remove barriers to healthier lives.

That same commitment shapes his leadership style. Jose believes in mentoring others, fostering collaboration, and creating an environment where team members feel supported to take initiative, build new skills, and grow into the next generation of public health leaders.

Outside of work, Jose enjoys discovering new coffee shops and restaurants, experimenting with new recipes, and exploring local food spots. When he’s not trying something new to eat, he loves hiking, spending time at the beach, and making memories with friends and family.

Please join us in congratulating Jose Mota-Venegas as Program Director. We look forward to the continued impact of his leadership as he helps build healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities.
