The holidays can bring joy, but they can also bring stress, memories, or mixed emotions.
If this season feels a little heavier than expected, that’s completely okay. You’re allowed to feel what you feel, without pressure to be cheerful or “on” all the time.
Take moments to care for yourself in ways that feel natural. Step outside for fresh air, enjoy a warm drink, listen to music you love, or pause for a few slow breaths. Small, quiet moments can help you stay steady when things get busy or overwhelming.
It’s also okay to set boundaries and choose what feels right for you. You don’t have to say yes to everything. Protecting your peace is an act of strength, not selfishness.
If you’re having a tough day, reach out to someone you trust. A short conversation or even a quick message can make you feel less alone. Support is there; you don’t have to carry everything on your own.
No matter how your holiday season looks this year, remember that you matter. You deserve kindness, rest, and a little bit of joy in your own way and at your own pace. Take it day by day, and be gentle with yourself.
If you or someone you know needs help, confidential support, or treatment options, please call our CARE Center at 877-507-6242. You’re not alone! SMRS: We listen, we understand, and we take action.
