Social Model Recovery Systems (SMRS) is excited to welcome Jeffrey Chen, IT Technician, as we establish a brand-new IT Helpdesk department. This marks an important milestone for SMRS as we roll out a centralized IT support system and ticketing platform to better serve our employees across all locations.

Jeffrey is a Los Angeles native who has always been passionate about technology. From a young age, he was curious about how things worked, taking apart household items and reassembling them (usually successfully!). That passion carried him into a degree in engineering and later into the garment industry, where he gained valuable experience in engineering, manufacturing, and customer service. Wanting to specialize further, Jeffrey transitioned into IT, where he quickly discovered his love for troubleshooting, problem-solving, and helping others with their technology needs.

Jeffrey believes that technology should help, not hinder people. He takes great interest in understanding how systems work together, spanning technology, personnel, and projects, and sees communication as essential in providing quality support. He also values turning problems into teaching moments, approaching challenges with a solutions-focused mindset to ensure technology works for people, not against them.

When he’s not solving tech issues, Jeffrey keeps busy listening to tech podcasts, playing tennis, and running. He has set his sights on competing in the 2027 Los Angeles Marathon ahead of the Olympics. He also enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and seeking out new experiences.

Jeffrey’s career highlights include leading a major server rack upgrade for a manufacturing company, a project that demanded careful planning, technical expertise, and zero downtime. That same approach will guide him as he helps SMRS build its IT Helpdesk from the ground up.

He envisions the new Helpdesk as a centralized, user-friendly platform where employees can submit tickets and track progress, ensuring smoother operations and quicker resolutions. His six-month goal is straightforward but impactful: to make sure every employee knows where to turn when technology isn’t working and feels confident that help is just a click away.
