On May 3rd, the Omni Center was alive with energy during its Cinco de Mayo celebration, organized and led by Community-Based Housing Director Brandon James.
The festivities kicked-off with a lively dance session led by Community-Based Housing Coordinator April Newman, encouraging residents and staff to groove to traditional Mexican music. Los Angeles Regional Director Melanie Arellano, along with other staff members, joined in on the dance, adding to the joyous atmosphere.
Food played a central role, with guests savoring chicken, BBQ, and tacos, expertly prepared with the help of maintenance team members Ralph Preciado and Luis Pardo. Other Mexican favorites like chips, rice, and beans further captured the festive spirit.
Attendees embraced their creativity, crafting maracas and participating in arts and crafts projects led by the Community-Based Housing staff, which brought a colorful and personal touch to the celebration.
Bringing together residents, staff, and alumni, the event fostered a strong sense of community and joy that resonated throughout the day. Thanks to Brandon’s leadership and the enthusiastic involvement of everyone, the celebration was a resounding success, leaving attendees eager for future gatherings.
