Team Social Model Recovery Systems (SMRS) was represented by Dr. Anna Lee, John Catania, Albert Grant, Ray Aguilar, and our newest member, Jason Cun at the Sixth Annual Step on the Green Golf Tournament Fundraiser hosted by 3rd Step Ministry.
The four gentlemen formed one group, while Dr. Lee joined another group. This charity tournament continues to support women in recovery by raising funds for the annual 3rd Step women’s luncheon, as well as providing scholarships and other assistance to women.
3rd Step Ministry is mainly supported through the efforts of volunteers with lived experience in recovery. They offer various support groups, workshops, trainings, and host recovery events throughout the year. The tournament was hosted at Candlewood Country Club in Whittier and included sponsors, donors, organizations, and individuals who wanted to “golf with a purpose.” It was a beautiful day on this par-70 course played by thirty-six teams of golfers.
The format was a four-player scramble, and Team SMRS finished with a round of 67. The team that Dr. Lee joined also shot a round of 67. Although neither team placed in the top three (3), they had their best finish thus far. Dr. Lee also won the Women’s Longest Drive Contest for the second year in a row at this tournament. Ray Aguilar won a Dodgers Fan Gift Set through the silent auction.
The Team SMRS participation and achievements at the tournament not only highlight their dedication but also inspire others to join in the cause and make a difference in the lives of those in need.
