This holiday season, Social Model Recovery Systems gathered for two meaningful Holiday Celebrations centered on what matters most: connection, compassion, and being together.

We came together on December 16 with participants and residents from our San Gabriel Valley Programs, and again on December 17 with participants and residents from our Los Angeles Programs. Each celebration was thoughtfully planned to create positive experiences, shared memories, and a sense of belonging for everyone in the room.

We know the holidays can bring mixed emotions. For many, this time of year carries memories, challenges, or moments of reflection that can feel heavy. Recovery teaches us that healing isn’t only about the work we do; it’s also about the moments we share.
The evening began with a heartfelt welcome from Bruce Boardman, Chief Executive Officer of Social Model Recovery Systems, who shared words of gratitude, encouragement, and hope. His message reminded everyone that they are valued, supported, and never alone in their recovery journey.

Guests then gathered to enjoy a shared meal, creating space for conversation, laughter, and connection. Then Santa made a special appearance, followed by a raffle and gift distribution that added to the sense of celebration and care.
Throughout both evenings, SMRS’ Core Beliefs were present in every detail. We are deeply grateful to our dedicated staff, whose generosity, time, and heart made these celebrations possible. From planning and decorating to donating gifts and volunteering, their commitment reflects the compassion and service that define SMRS.
Most importantly, we extend our sincere thanks to our participants and their loved ones. Thank you for trusting the recovery process, for showing up for yourselves, and for sharing this special time with us. Your strength and presence are what make these moments meaningful.
We are honored to celebrate alongside you and wish you and your families a peaceful, hopeful, and joyful holiday season.
