On June 27th, Social Model Recovery Systems (SMRS) hosted a Community Providers Meeting at Royal Palms—an LGBTQ+ affirming residential treatment program located in the heart of Los Angeles’ Westlake area.

This event brought together a range of behavioral health professionals, agency representatives, and insurance providers to strengthen collaboration across the region’s recovery and mental health services network.

Led by Program Director Vanessa Ramos and Senior Director of Community Relations Mike Schaub, the event provided an inclusive space for networking, resource sharing, and meaningful conversation. Attendees had the opportunity to introduce their own programs and services, explore potential referral partnerships, and build relationships with like-minded professionals dedicated to integrated and accessible care.

Program Directors and representatives from several SMRS programs also joined the meeting, each highlighting the unique services their programs offer. Social Model Recovery Systems operates a diverse range of treatment and housing programs across Los Angeles County—serving adults, adolescents, men, women and women with children, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people with co-occurring disorders. Their presence offered guests a more comprehensive understanding of the agency’s continuum of care and the specific populations each program is designed to support.

Among those present was Jazmine Delgadillo, Health Deputy from the Office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. Her participation reflected the County District’s commitment to addressing substance use and mental health challenges through collaborative, person-centered approaches that meet the diverse needs of Los Angeles communities.

The event featured a warm welcome from the Royal Palms staff and residents, followed by facility tours that gave guests an inside look at the center’s trauma-informed, affirming environment. Guests learned about Royal Palms’ unique approach to treatment, which includes group and individual counseling, EMDR therapy, and comprehensive case management tailored to the needs of LGBTQ+ individuals in recovery.

SMRS created its Community Providers Meetings with a clear mission: to facilitate quality referrals, foster open communication among providers, and ensure that the best interests of our residents and participants remain the top priority. These gatherings reflect SMRS’ commitment to the highest levels of integrity, honesty, and professionalism while working synergistically across organizations and sectors.

As the behavioral health landscape continues to evolve, events like this provide a valuable platform to align efforts, share best practices, and collectively respond to the growing demand for mental health and substance use services. SMRS looks forward to continuing these conversations and expanding its network of compassionate, client-centered care providers committed to helping individuals and families heal.
