I have chosen to pursue a career in this field due to my deep sense of empathy and connection with the residents. It offers them a second chance at life, and I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been granted such an opportunity. This field has the power to positively transform the lives of many individuals, and I am driven to be a part of that transformative process. My aspiration is to assist others in realizing that it is never too late for them to create a better life for themselves. By aligning with Social Model Recovery Systems, I believe I can achieve my personal goals by working in an environment that is dedicated to helping residents improve their lives. My objective is to make informed decisions as I move forward in my own life, and I am confident that Social Model Recovery Systems will provide the structure necessary to accomplish this.
Michelle Velasquez, RADT
Primary Aide, Royal Palms
I am thrilled to be a part of Social Model Recovery Systems. The prevalence of individuals struggling with addiction and enduring pain is truly overwhelming. I was once among those lost and suffering individuals, and I deeply wished for the opportunity to encounter someone who would invest the time and effort to show me a different path in life. I yearned for someone to extend their love and support, helping me realize that I was deserving of positive change. This is where my passion to work for SMRS comes into play.
My ultimate purpose is to offer assistance and care to individuals who are unable to love themselves or lack the motivation to strive for a better life. As an employee of SMRS, I can provide the necessary support until they reach a place where they can independently continue their journey. Additionally, I believe SMRS offers the prospect of hope and the realization that change is indeed attainable. I am living proof of this transformation.
SMRS can aid me in achieving my goals by supporting my sobriety and facilitating my educational pursuits, both now and in the future. Moreover, it presents opportunities for advancement within the organization. By assisting me in reaching my objectives, SMRS empowers me to become a better parent and employee while also contributing to my role as a productive member of society. Ultimately, my aspiration is to lead a sober and healthy lifestyle, one that I can exemplify through my actions and use to assist others. Let us always remember that change is indeed possible. Once again, I express my gratitude to SMRS for this incredible opportunity.

I feel a strong connection to this field of work, as I can personally relate to the experiences of the residents in terms of addiction and incarceration. Given my background and firsthand experiences, I believe that residents will find it easier to connect with me. I can effectively demonstrate and share the remarkable progress I have made on my own journey.
I am constantly learning and remain open to further growth and development. Social Model Recovery Systems provides me with the opportunity to enhance myself internally and become a better person. I recognize that there is still much for me to learn, and this field of work is particularly intriguing.

Working in the treatment field offers immense fulfillment through assisting individuals in overcoming their addictions. I have always derived satisfaction from helping others, and my work has provided me with a deeper understanding of addiction. Being part of a community that shares the same passion is truly inspiring.
Social Model Recovery Systems could play a pivotal role in my personal development. I believe working here can motivate me to pursue further education and obtain certification as a drug and alcohol counselor. As a single mother and woman, this organization has instilled hope and renewed faith in my ability to thrive and work diligently towards achieving my goals.
As new members of the SMRS team, Aldrin, Michelle, Travis, and Maria each bring unique insights and experiences that highlight the transformative power of compassionate care in addiction recovery. Their stories not only reflect the impact of dedicated support on the individuals we serve but also emphasize their own journeys of personal growth and professional development.
