Our theme was “Summertime”, and everyone enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We were graced with the presence of five of our SMRS Board Members who introduced themselves and shared the honor they felt being on the board. They also expressed their sincere gratitude for the work Social Model is doing to enhance the lives of those we serve.

In this recent meeting, we discussed “Uncompromising Service to Others” to reinforce the importance of customer service, share best practices, and foster a culture of empathetic care. The meeting centered on enhancing customer interactions and ensuring that everyone’s journey toward recovery is met with unwavering support and kindness.

In substance use and mental health treatment programs, customer service takes on a unique significance. It is the foundation on which recovery and healing are built. Our staff was also reminded that each client requires not only professional care but also compassion, empathy, nonjudgmental care, and understanding. Recognizing that every interaction is an opportunity to make a lasting impact, SMRS emphasized the significance of understanding and addressing the unique needs of each participant/resident.

We also delved into the art of active listening, positive language usage, and open dialogue. Through the presentation presented by SMRS Senior Director of Community Relations Mike Schaub, attendees learned how effective communication fosters trust and foster strong relationships between our participants/residents, their families, and the organization.

The event emphasized the concept of creating memorable experiences. By going above and beyond, employees can transform routine interactions into meaningful moments that leave a lasting impression.

The presentation not only explored the critical role of exceptional service to others but also a reminder to each employee that we are here not because it is a job or a career, but rather a CALLING- a CALLING to help people and make a big difference.

SMRS also celebrated employees who exemplify exceptional service to others. Through an awards ceremony, those who consistently go the extra mile in their interactions were recognized and celebrated. This not only motivates individuals to continue delivering outstanding service but also sets aspirational benchmarks for the entire organization.

On this meeting we also acknowledged our COO Tim Stevens for his 30 years of service.  He has exemplified the true essence of compassion. His kindness knows no bounds, and his ability to connect with each individual on a deeply personal level has been the cornerstone of his success.

Beyond his professional achievements, Tim has become a cherished mentor and friend to colleagues, clients, and families alike. His wisdom, patience, and ability to listen without judgment have created an environment of trust and understanding, fostering an atmosphere where individuals feel empowered to embark on their journey to recovery. May his legacy continue to shine as a guiding light for all of us.
