Rosa Nieto Menbreno, SUDRC
Primary Aide, Royal Palms

I knew that working in this field would change my life completely. As a child, I remember seeing those I loved struggle with addiction, and oftentimes became frustrated as there was no way I could help them beat that disease. However, as an adult, I knew I was able to make a change and contribute to the road of success for those struggling with addiction. I firmly believe my lived experience, education, and perseverance will be the driving force in assisting those who need support as they battle the disease of addiction.

My goal within Social Model Recovery Systems is to provide care and support to all participants and be a strong team player with my team of co-workers. I also believe Social Model Recovery Systems will assist me in achieving my goals by providing opportunities to grow within the organization and the tools to achieve those opportunities.

Brandon Walker, RADT
Primary Aide, Bimini

I decided to pursue a career in behavioral health due to my lived experience and passion to assist others in battling the disease of addiction. By working for Social Model Recovery Systems, my main aspiration is to experience the gratification of positively impacting people’s lives. I firmly believe that Social Model Recovery Systems will support me in attaining my goals of personal growth and aiding others in achieving their own ambitions.

Samantha Latscha, A.S.
Medication Support Counselor, River Community Azusa

I wanted to work in the field because I want to offer empathy and compassion to individuals battling the disease of addiction. I believe it is important to be trauma-informed and provide a positive and caring environment. I want to be able to be a part of that experience and to remind individuals that there is hope and that we do recover. My goal with Social Model Recovery Systems is to be a positive asset to the community by providing support and resources to those who are wanting to change their lives. Social Model Recovery Systems will help me reach my goals by being supportive and guiding me through this journey of continuing my education and experience.

Pete McGowin, CADC I
Primary Counselor, Royal Palms

I want to work in this field in order to help people that are struggling with the disease of addiction. I want to be able to use my experience and my story as a way to show others there is hope and they can recover.  I want my work to mean something, and I want it to have a positive impact on those around me. I want to lift people up and be a beacon of hope for those who may feel lost and hopeless. I want to be able to show people that it’s never too late to turn your life around and that everyone deserves a second chance.  I want to motivate, inspire, and show others that if I can do this then they can too. Lastly, Social Model Recovery Systems can help me reach my goals by giving me the opportunity to grow, learn new things, and expand my career as a substance use disorder counselor.
