SMRS Senior Clinical Director, Pedram Moshfegh and our Director of Education and Training, Denise Felice conducted a “CalAIM Clinical Documentation Training” on May 10.

In an effort to streamline documentation and align with CalAIM, Mr. Moshfegh and Ms. Felice prepared Documentation Changes for Progress Notes, Problem Lists, and Treatment Plans. The new progress notes are more in line with CARF and CalAIM requirements, more concise, and should help reduce the time staff need to complete the Progress Notes.

They also reviewed and discussed the Discharge process and required documentation. Forty-one (41) staff from different programs attended the training. The training is specifically designed for Primary Counselors and Group Facilitators.

California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) is a comprehensive initiative launched by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to transform the Medi-Cal program and improve health outcomes for the state’s beneficiaries. As part of CalAIM, there may be specific training programs or requirements related to clinical documentation.

Our goal is to ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of client encounters, diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes.

The CalAIM Clinical Documentation Training covered various topics, such as an overview of CalAIM,

Documentation Standards and Guidelines, Risk Adjustment and Quality Metrics, Behavioral Health Integration, Data Collection and Reporting, and Electronic Health Record (EHR) Optimization.

The content and format of the CalAIM Clinical Documentation Training seeks to ensure that our staff have the knowledge and skills to effectively document the participants’/residents’ care within the framework of CalAIM,  and to improve the outcomes and the overall quality of care delivered through the Medi-Cal program.

SMRS believes that continued education and training are essential to maintain professional competence and to enhance skills to better serve our participants/residents. We continue to invest in the growth and development of our staff to enable them to provide exceptional service to our participants/residents, stay ahead of industry changes, and contribute to the overall success of our agency.
