We are proud to announce that Michael Russell has been promoted to the position of Program Director of Social Model Recovery Systems’ Bimini program. The promotion is not just an individual triumph for Michael, but also a step forward for the Bimini program.<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Michael\u2019s<\/strong> journey with SMRS<\/em> began in September 2019 at Royal Palms<\/em>, following 17 years of confinement. During that time away, he made the courageous choice to step out of a destructive cycle of drugs and crime and instead dedicate himself to becoming a counselor. \u201cI wanted to pay it forward and help others find the freedom I had found,\u201d <\/em>Michael shares a message of hope that continues to inspire everyone around him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After briefly stepping away in late 2019 for a family emergency, Michael returned to SMRS<\/em> in October 2021, this time at Bimini<\/em>, where he quickly became a source of encouragement and strength for both residents and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael\u2019s <\/em>commitment to growth is evident in his pursuit of a bachelor\u2019s degree in Social Work<\/strong> at Pacific Oaks College<\/strong>. This academic journey has not only expanded his knowledge but also enriched the support and insight he brings to the Bimini community. His 23 years in recovery stand as powerful proof of his resilience and determination. \u201cThe most significant lesson I\u2019ve learned since getting clean and sober is that I can achieve anything I set my mind to,\u201d<\/em> Michael reflects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Michael steps into his new role as Program Director,<\/strong> he brings not only professional experience but also a heart that deeply understands the courage it takes to change. His story is living proof that transformation is possible, and his leadership reminds us that recovery is not just about healing, it\u2019s about building a future filled with purpose and meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
