Residents of the Omni Center<\/strong>, a substance use disorder treatment facility for men and a program of Social Model Recovery Systems<\/strong> (SMRS) led by Program Director Carlos Aguilar<\/strong>, recently enjoyed a special workout session at CrossFit BLVD<\/strong>.<\/em><\/h3>\n\n

The gym’s owner, Yvette Martinez, <\/strong>and Omni Center’s Primary Counselor Valerie Frausto<\/strong> collaborated to provide residents a unique opportunity to experience the benefits of exercise in their recovery journey.<\/p>\n

Yvette, certified in Trauma and Fitness, led a CrossFit workout, guiding residents through proper exercise techniques. During the session, she shared insights into the stress-relieving and anxiety-reducing benefits of regular exercise, particularly crucial in aiding the brain’s recovery after substance abuse.<\/p>\n

Omni center residents encouraged each other during the workout, mirroring the supportive community that Yvette has fostered at CrossFit BLVD. Yvette highlighted the importance of building a sober support group and connecting with individuals who prioritize mental and physical well-being.<\/p>\n

The residents also expressed their enjoyment of the workout, with some mentioning it was their first time in a gym. One resident noted how the session boosted his self-esteem. The positive experience prompted Yvette to reserve a spot for Omni Center residents monthly.<\/p>\n

Omni Center and CrossFit BLVD collaboration reflect a commitment to our residents’ well-being. These gym excursions offer more than just exercise; they provide a sense of community and empowerment for those on the path to recovery.<\/p>\n
