Story of Darcy Mascarenas<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThanks to Social Model, I am about to embark on the greatest adventure.\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My name is Darcy. I have struggled with mental health most of my life. I was in a rough spot in my life back in 2017. I was homeless with nothing in my name, not even a cellphone,  and in desperate need of work. I heard Social Model Recovery Systems was hiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I applied for the Administrative Assistant position in Mid Valley Outpatient and ended up nailing the interview. I began my journey here at Social Model Recovery Systems with nothing but a week\u2019s worth of clothing (that I mostly got from donations) and no hope,  but here I am today full of hope and confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am thankful to Social Model Recovery Systems for giving me a chance, for seeing something in me that I didn\u2019t see at the time, and most importantly for allowing me to grow not just as a person but to advance in my career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The longer I worked here, the more I learned,  not just about my job, but about the organization as a whole and even more about myself and how important my mental health was and how important it was to take care of yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each time I advanced as an employee and learned a new skill set, I also ended up learning more and more of what I was capable of as a person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am moving across the country to live a life I have always dreamed of with all the hope and possibility one could ever hope for. I would have never been able to make this move without the knowledge and skills I have now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
