Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents, and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enrique (Kiki) Camarena<\/strong> was a Drug Enforcement Administration Agent who was tortured and killed in Mexico in 1985. When he decided to join the US Drug Enforcement Administration, his mother tried to talk him out of it. “I’m only one person”, he told her, “but I want to make a difference.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Feb. 7, 1985, the 37-year-old Camarena left his office to meet his wife for lunch. Five men appeared at the agent’s side and shoved him in a car. One month later, Camarena’s body was found. He had been tortured to death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In honor of Agent Enrique Camarena, and all those who fight to eliminate the destruction caused by drug use, Stepping Stones is celebrating Red Ribbon Week with the following activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday<\/strong> \u2013 Pajama Day\/Follow your Dreams!
Monday<\/strong> \u2013 Wear Red Day\/ RED-y to live Drug-Free!
Tuesday<\/strong> \u2013 Tie Dye Day\/ Say \u201cPEACE \u2013 out\u201d to drugs!
Wednesday<\/strong> \u2013 Workout Day\/Stay FIT not lit!
Thursday<\/strong> \u2013 Crazy Hair, Crazy Sock Day\/Drug-Free from Head to Toe!
Friday<\/strong> \u2013 Nerd Day\/ Make smart choices!
Saturday<\/strong> \u2013 Spooky Face Paint Day\/ Say no to Spirits by getting in the Halloween Spirit \u2013 Door Decoration Contest!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents also decorated press on nails with Red Ribbons, unfortunately, they were lost during double scrub!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
